Cadets Train for Competitions
by Ashley Vargas
For five days at the beginning of August the Riverview
High School NJROTC staff hosted an orientation for incoming
cadets. After a week of learning drills, how to
prepare their new uniform and physical training, we welcomed
these new cadets into our NJROTC Shark family by having a
cookout with fun activities the last day.
With our competitive spirit and consistent drill
practices, Riverview's NJROTC program is one of the best in
the nation! Our Shark Battalion has been selected for
the Distinguished Unit Award for several years now, making
us second to none in Hillsborough County. This year,
we have set our sights high with the goal of first place at
Nationals. With our outstanding record of first place
at every competition, this dream could possibly become a
reality. For the first time, we are searching aor a
local company to sponsor us to become a part of making this
dream come true.
We believe that we stand out from the rest because of our
strong family bond within the unit. Like a family, we
eat, sleep, practice, and win together!
Our competition schedule is as follows: September
29, Winter Park, October 27, Central, November 17, Lake
Howell, December 8, Boca Raton, January 19, TBA.
